Week 13: Watermelon Miracle

Image
Hola from the hot side of the world,  This beginning of the week was a little difficult. My companion is the new sister leader in our zone, so she had to go to Rancagua for some training. For one day I led the sector with another companion from Rancagua, and then the next day I was with other Hermanas in the morning, and then I went on splits with a girl in the ward named Nicol. She is super nice, and got home from her mission in Guatemala like 4 months ago. (Not the same mission as Ryan, I already checked). But...yeah it was a little stressful for those days because really I have no idea what I am doing. This week I was also a little bit frustrated with my companion. I was feeling pretty stressed and not really feeling the spirit, but then I read in the Book of Mormon in 2 Nephi 4:27-30. Nephi is talking and says  27  And  why  should  I  yield  to  sin,  because  of  my  flesh?  Yea,  why  should...

Week 12: I am engaged!!!

Image
Hi family!,  I have some exciting news. This week some guy asked me to marry him! Whoo hoo! hahaha We were contacting in the street and we talked to this guy. He asked where I was from, and when I said I was from America, he said he wanted to marry me. It was pretty funny...I said, ”thanks but... I am a servant of the Lord.” The good news is I dont even have to look for a boyfriend when I get back because there are lots of 40 year old men that want to marry me hahaha. But seriously, dont worry it was not a dangerous situation at all.  The truth is, I really am engaged...in GOOD WORKS! Just like it says in DyC 58 v27 27  Verily  I  say,  men  should  be  anxiously  engaged  in  a  good  cause,  and  do  many  things  of  their  own  free  will,  and  bring  to  pass  much  righteousness;    This week we had another bap...

Week 11: My First Baptism!

Image
Hi family!  I was trying to think of a witty subject line for my email, but I dont really have time, and SUPRISE! I had my first baptism this week! Okay. I think that one of the people in the ward sent some pictures to dad yesterday, but I obviously couldnt write you and tell you about them. But yesterday our friend Luckny was baptized! He is from Haiti, and is awesome! Every time that we go and teach him he has an awesome suprised face hahaha. He has trouble reading, and doesnt know a TON of spanish, but his faith is incredible. He has totally changed his life. Luckny was baptized by one of the youth in the ward. He is 16 and the son of one of the counselors to President Harris, so that was awesome! The other Haitian in the picture is Ricardo. Yesterday Ricardo received the priesthood! Whoo hoo! super fun. He blessed the sacrament in Creole yesterday which was really awesome! I feel so proud of all of them! ps. Sorry the picture is sideways...it is the only one where my e...

Week 10: If you're happy and you know it, lose your hair!

Family! Hi there!  This week kind of flew  by, so I havent thought a lot about what to say to all of you. Except this. I love you! Love, Hermana Christensen jkjk, I am going to write an actual letter, dont worry hahaha I am so glad that you got my letter and package! Whoo hoo! My hands are still soft because I sweat all the time, but my feet are getting harder. Which is a good thing because I dont want to have blister on the bottom of my feet for a year and a half.  This week we had interviews with President Harris. I was a little bit nervous because it was my first time, but it was great! I definitely know that he is called of God and received revelation specifically for us. The past week was a little hard for me because I am missing my family! but President Harris knew just the right things to say to encourage me and help me. While we were waiting to be interviewed, we had classes from our Zone leaders, Sister leader, and Hermana Harris. In the class w...

Week 9: I heard the sirens on Christmas Day...and every other day

Image
Hola Familia! I had so much fun talking with you on Christmas!! It was great to see your faces and hear your voiced. Basically I wrote down a bunch of things that I was going to tell you, and then I didnt...oops. Regarding the title of my email, every day at 12, the bomberos (Firefighters) sound their siren. The first time it happened, I was like....oh crap what is happening, but then my companion told me what it was. So fun.  Guess what! I finished the Book of Mormon today!! Whoo hoo! I was very suprised because I didnt think that I would make it by the end of the year. I have been waking up early with my companion to finish reading it. The other day I read 25 pages. I know that I had help from God to finish it. My testimony of the BOM is strengthened every time I read it. I am so grateful for it. One of my new years resolutions  is to read the BOM in spanish. I think it will take me a long time, but hopefully by the end I will speak spanish. hahaha.  I love s...
