Week 35: Total Eclipse of the... sun

Image
Hey family!  I hope this week has been a good one! It has been a good one on this side of the equator. This week we had an eclipse here in Chile! Whoo hoo!! The eclipse wasnt full where we were, but it still got a little bit dark. One of the ward members had the special lenses, so we got to see the sun through that. It was super cool, but not as cool as the one in Idaho, oh well. Here are some pics of when the sun was covered up. This was at like 4 in the afternoon.  This week I am tired! But it is super awesome! We have been working super hard in our sector and helping people progress. This week we set a baptismal date with Nelson. He is from Venezuela, and is in Chile working to bring his wife here. Nelson is awesome! He is reading the Book of Mormon, and progressing a lot! Keep him and Jenny and Alejandra in your prayers this week if you remember.  Sorry the letter is a little short this week, but I will send some pictures too. Love, Hermana Ch...

Week 34: On Fire!

Image
Hi family! I hope this week has been a good one for yall! This week was super exciting and we did a TON of things. That is why we are on fire! hahaha This week we did 14 visits to the members in the ward. This is one of our new goals as a mission to be able to work more with the members and gain their trust. It has been hard to find time to visit all of these people, but we have been practicing short powerful visits. It was super awesome because we reached our  goal!! Whoo hoo!! I have really enjoyed this ward and working with the members. Next week we will get changes, so who knows where I will be next week. Hopefully in this ward still hahaha. This week we are working with a family from Venezuela. The mom Jenny, and her daughter Alejandra are progressing the most. They have baptismal dates for July 20! Jenny, the mom, is awesome! She is reading the book of Mormon and always has really awesome questions. She came to church with her 4 year old twins and they behaved terribl...

Week 33: It´s Growing Time!

Image
Hi family! This week was a long one, and a good one. I learned A LOT this week. I will try to share some of the experiences that I had this week.  First, with  my companion. This week my companion and I were not having a lot of success in our teaching, and I realized that we didnt really have the spirit with us. I knew that we needed to talk it out. I asked her what she was thinking, and what I could do to help her and what I was doing that was making her mad. It was really hard to talk to her, but I know that it was worth it! After we talked some things out, we were able to have the spirit with us, and we had more success. Now we are better friends, and we are able to talk more openly! This week we also had our last conference with President Harris. It was very sad, but also awesome! He related the story of the 2 thousand stripling warriors to our lives. One thing that he focused on is that the stripling warriors were protected because of their covenants. Every sing...

Week 32: Thanks for the Birthday wishes!

Image
Dear family, Thank you all for the birthday wishes and sweet messages! I am so grateful that I was born into a family that loves me and supports me! (and that Maddie married Misael) These past couple weeks have been a little crazy, but super great! I am feeling a lot better emotionally and now I am excited to be able to focus more on the work. Here in Rancagua we are surrounded by mountains (almost exactly like Utah Valley). It is super fun to see the snow on the mountains. Also in the middle of our sector is the train tracks. In order to get to our chapel from our apartment, we have to cross the tracks. It was a little bit scary the first time, but now it is normal. Dont worry, I am always very safe. except for when I took this picture....oops.  This week was my birthday! Whoo hoo! Thank you so much for the birthday package and notes. I love all the clothes and cute bracelet! My companion is the best and made me breakfast! She is alwa...

Week 30: Bright-ish Lights, Big-ish City

Image
Hi family!  Wow! I cant believe it! I am here in Rancagua! It is super awesome because my ward building is the mission office. So we get to see President Harris and the office misisonaries a lot. I am super excited to be in this sector. The only bad thing is that it is super huge! We have to use bikes all day, so I am getting pretty good at riding for longer distances hahaha. Hopefully I will get huge muscles in my calves for when I get back hahaha. This sector is also fun because there is a huge mountain range. I feel like I am in Utah Valley, but when I look to the north, Timpanogas isnt there hahaha. It isnt toooooooo cold here yet, but there are some mountains with snow. I will try to take and send a picture of it because it is super pretty.  My companion is from Peru| Her name is Hermana Pezo. She is the ninth out of 10 kids and she is super cute! We are still getting to know each other, but I am excited to get to know her better! This is her 3 change, so I am her f...

Week 28: Miracles are real

Hi family! This week was a little bit hard, but we also saw a lot of miracles. This week we had lunch with our mission leader, his wife, and her cousin Matias -who has a baptism date. After lunch we were able to have a lesson with him, and it went really well! I am very grateful that he has the support of his cousin and her family to help him. I have a testimony that when we work with members, the people stay firm in the church. Hermana Bracho was feeling pretty bad this weekend, so we had to stay in the house on Sunday. We were a little bit low on contacting people and finding new people to teach. Our zone leaders and district leaders worked together to help us find new people to teach, and they also contacted in our sector for a little bit. In the end with their help we found 11 new people to teach this week, and had just over 200 contacts. I could not believe it! I know that when we put in all of our effort, work hard, and serve others, that the Lord will help us and bless us. ...

Week 27: Hospitals and House Alarms

Image
Hey family! This week was a little bit crazy because we were not working in our sector for two days. One of the days we went to Rancagua for a training about the house alarms. All of the houses of the sisters have alarms, so we got trained on how to install them, how to fix them, and other stuff. I felt like I was in a tech class in high school again hahaha. It was fun because after we got Papa Johns Pizza! WHoo Hoo!! It is always fun to eat pizza because we almost never eat it. This week my companion has had some pain in her lower back, so we went to the hospital/doctor after the meeting. It is good because she doesnt have anything too serious and just had to take some medicine. We took a couple selfies because....How often do you get to visit a Chilean Hospital? Hopefully never!! hahaha.   On Friday we had our Zone Conference. It was awesome because we talked about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith. I am so grateful for both of them! I always enjoy talking about Josep...
