Week 9: I heard the sirens on Christmas Day...and every other day

Hola Familia!
I had so much fun talking with you on Christmas!! It was great to see your faces and hear your voiced. Basically I wrote down a bunch of things that I was going to tell you, and then I didnt...oops. Regarding the title of my email, every day at 12, the bomberos (Firefighters) sound their siren. The first time it happened, I was like....oh crap what is happening, but then my companion told me what it was. So fun. 

Guess what! I finished the Book of Mormon today!! Whoo hoo! I was very suprised because I didnt think that I would make it by the end of the year. I have been waking up early with my companion to finish reading it. The other day I read 25 pages. I know that I had help from God to finish it. My testimony of the BOM is strengthened every time I read it. I am so grateful for it. One of my new years resolutions  is to read the BOM in spanish. I think it will take me a long time, but hopefully by the end I will speak spanish. hahaha. 

I love seeing all of the pictures from Christmas! Thanks! Is Nanny and Grandpas house finished? Pics? The skype call didnt distract me too much. This week has been a little bit harder because it is Christmas, but that is to be expected. I love to see eveythying that is happening. It is so crazy that it is snowing there because this week the weather will be in the 90s. Ick. I am in an area called Curicó if you want to look it up and see. The sun is so strong here. Like stronger than compact tape (hahah remember my obsession with that for a while).  I am using sunscreen out the waz(sp?) here hahaha. 

Other good random news. This week I am going to buy my very own contact paper. yeah I know. Its a big deal. You can send a card if you want hahaha

Congrats to every one! Mostly Mom and Dad. Totally forgot about your anniversary, but so fun!!! I am so grateful for your example!!

Okay, I have a few questions. I dont have time this week to write everyone, so sorry that they are all together. 
1. Is the church  making new videos for the Book of Mormon? if so when are they coming out?
2. Mom, did you say that Ryan Alvarez was sending me a letter? Is it an email or an actual letter?
3. So, where are Maddie and Misael living? Is Claire still in our house?
4. What changes have been made in the Church? If you could explain them to me not in spanish that would be awesome hahaha. It is so crazy that we are going to have two hour church from now on. Loco. 
5. Dad, should I buy a new suitcase? That never really got resolved hahaha. Communicating on a mission is so hard... I think there are places here that sell suitcases, so just let me know
6. Could someone send my a 4 generation fan chart of family history, thanks. Not an emergency though hahaha

Okay. Bueno. One more thing. There is a returned missionary from Provo that is visiting Chile. He offered to take back a package for yall. If it is possible I am going to give it to him today. He live by the new Provo temple, so keep your eyes and ears out for information on that.

Sorry my letter is so crazy today. THe keyboard that I am using is super old, so I have to press really hard, and I have a cramp in my middle finger, but it is totally worth it!!

Hola Familia! Wow. I can't believe it, but I only have about 17 months left in my mission! hahaha. But really the time is flying by in the MTC. I apologize, I didn't get a letter hand written this week, but hopefully next week I can squeeze it in. At the MTC, every second we are learning and growing, or eating and sleeping. When I do have a moment where I'm not doing something, I am memorizing scriptures or vocabulary.  This week was great! On Thursday was Thanksgiving. Most of the missionaries forgot because it was just like any other day. But when we went to dinner, there was a surprise waiting for us! The cafeteria staff had made a nice dinner for us. They put tableclothes on the table with cloth napkins, pitchers of juice, and flowers. Then they served us turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy. It was so nice! Week 35: Total Eclipse of the... sun

Hey family!  I hope this week has been a good one! It has been a good one on this side of the equator. This week we had an eclipse here in Chile! Whoo hoo!! The eclipse wasnt full where we were, but it still got a little bit dark. One of the ward members had the special lenses, so we got to see the sun through that. It was super cool, but not as cool as the one in Idaho, oh well. Here are some pics of when the sun was covered up. This was at like 4 in the afternoon.  This week I am tired! But it is super awesome! We have been working super hard in our sector and helping people progress. This week we set a baptismal date with Nelson. He is from Venezuela, and is in Chile working to bring his wife here. Nelson is awesome! He is reading the Book of Mormon, and progressing a lot! Week 36: I'm a mom!

Hi family! I hope everyone is doing well! Dont worry about the subject line, I´m not pregnant, but I am training a new missionary! Whoo hoo! It is a weird missionary thing to call your trainee your daughter...but.... It is kind of weird. Probably the last time I will do that. Her name is Hermana Machicado. She is from Bolivia and is super short and super cute! She is the 7th of 8 kids and all but two of her siblings are members. This week has been pretty great! It is amazing to see how the Lord has been preparing me, and how He is preparing the people we are teaching. I think everyone already knows, but I was struggling a lot with depression in the first part of my mission. These past couple weeks I have been able to realize that I am feeling SO MUCH BETTER!!! And just in time, because I am training a new missionary hahaha. But really, I am so grateful for all the experiences that I have had in my mission so far.
