Week 24: New Companion - Hermana Bracho!!


Hi Family!
It was super fun to talk with some of you this morning. First of all, Happy Birthday to Bea this week. Super crazy. Enjoy the celebrations together. 
This week was a little hard, but ended super great!! This week we worked everyday contacting people. It is hard because we are basically walking around or using bikes and talking with every person we see. It is hard right now because there are not a lot of people in the street to talk to. We worked as hard as we could this week, and we only had like 5 lessons, and only found 1 new person to teach. Then on Sunday we worked hard again. It was super frustrating, but then in the night we started seeing miracles!! We found 7 new people to teach! It was super awesome because we found a Haitian couple to teach, and then we asked them if they knew anyone that we could teach. They showed us their friend`s house, and then we taught them too. Then we found a Colombian lady to teach, and also a Venezuelan lady too. It was super crazy! Even though we didn't reach our goal of 200 contacts this week, we found 8 new people in total this week. I am excited to keep teaching them. 

Another miracle. This week we contacted a man that was super hard. He was not mean, but he was very insistent that God and Jesus Christ were one person, and that we needed to pray and find out that this was true. After he talked AT us for like 20 minutes, we testified of Christ and left. But afterward I was thinking about it a little bit. I didnt doubt that Christ and God are different people, but I was thinking about it. In my personal studies I thought to study about when Jesus Christ came to the Americas. In one of the verses it says something like, ``I am Jesus Christ the Son of God`` or something like that. It was a great testament to me that Jesus Christ really is the Son of God, and that our Heavenly Father is a different person. This experience strengthened my testimony of this, and even though this man was hard to talk to, I am glad that we met him and I had this experience. 

I am so grateful for the Savior. I am grateful for the Resurrection and the miracle that it is. I am grateful for our Heavenly Father that let Jesus Christ pay for our sins so that we can live with Him again. If you havent watched the video Because of Him, you should definitley do it.

p.s. My new companion! She is from Argentina and super cute! She likes to sew and paint and is pretty chill. I think we will be good friends :)

Week 4: I wanna be where the people are...

Hola Familia! Wow. I can't believe it, but I only have about 17 months left in my mission! hahaha. But really the time is flying by in the MTC. I apologize, I didn't get a letter hand written this week, but hopefully next week I can squeeze it in. At the MTC, every second we are learning and growing, or eating and sleeping. When I do have a moment where I'm not doing something, I am memorizing scriptures or vocabulary.  This week was great! On Thursday was Thanksgiving. Most of the missionaries forgot because it was just like any other day. But when we went to dinner, there was a surprise waiting for us! The cafeteria staff had made a nice dinner for us. They put tableclothes on the table with cloth napkins, pitchers of juice, and flowers. Then they served us turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy. It was so nice! Week 35: Total Eclipse of the... sun

Hey family!  I hope this week has been a good one! It has been a good one on this side of the equator. This week we had an eclipse here in Chile! Whoo hoo!! The eclipse wasnt full where we were, but it still got a little bit dark. One of the ward members had the special lenses, so we got to see the sun through that. It was super cool, but not as cool as the one in Idaho, oh well. Here are some pics of when the sun was covered up. This was at like 4 in the afternoon.  This week I am tired! But it is super awesome! We have been working super hard in our sector and helping people progress. This week we set a baptismal date with Nelson. He is from Venezuela, and is in Chile working to bring his wife here. Nelson is awesome! He is reading the Book of Mormon, and progressing a lot! Week 36: I'm a mom!

Hi family! I hope everyone is doing well! Dont worry about the subject line, I´m not pregnant, but I am training a new missionary! Whoo hoo! It is a weird missionary thing to call your trainee your daughter...but.... It is kind of weird. Probably the last time I will do that. Her name is Hermana Machicado. She is from Bolivia and is super short and super cute! She is the 7th of 8 kids and all but two of her siblings are members. This week has been pretty great! It is amazing to see how the Lord has been preparing me, and how He is preparing the people we are teaching. I think everyone already knows, but I was struggling a lot with depression in the first part of my mission. These past couple weeks I have been able to realize that I am feeling SO MUCH BETTER!!! And just in time, because I am training a new missionary hahaha. But really, I am so grateful for all the experiences that I have had in my mission so far.
