Week 18: Anacos y Hermana Tituaña
Hola Fam! From the other side of the world where toilets drain the opposite way (or so I´ve heard).
This week I got my new companion Hermana Tituaña! She is from Ecuador, and this is her last 6 weeks in the mission. She has 3 other sisters, and one brother. This Sunday we wore the traditional dress of the indigenous (sp?) people in Ecuador. It is called Anaco. I felt basically like a latin princess, so that was super awesome! All of the people in the ward loved it!
This week was a little bit crazy, but at the same time super typical. We spent a lot of time contacting, teaching lessons, and visiting members. This week was a little hard because we worked super hard, but didnt see a lot of results. I am excited to keep working, and see how we will be blessed for our faith. I am leading the sector right now which means that I am the one that plans for the day, and I lead the way to lessons and stuff. It has been a pretty stressful week because of that, but I am excited to keep working, and learn how to lead better.
Here is a picture with a member named Mirza Garcia. She is super awesome she is a single mom with one son who is 21 now and about to get married. She always accompanies us to lessons and feeds us lunch on Sundays.
I have been thinking, and I am glad that I am having these ´´hard´´ experiences in my mission right now. I know it will be easier after! I have seen many times in my life that my stressful or hard experiences prepare me for more things down the road. I have been reading the Book of Mormon in spanish and this week I was reading in Jacob 5, about the vineyard of the Lord. Even though it is even harder to understand in spanish, I was able to see the relationship to missionary work this time. I am super glad to be working in the vineyard of the Lord. I especially like verses 72 and 75 (I think). They talk about how the Lord is working with us, and if we follow the commandments of the Lord, we will receive a lof of blessings.
Thank you so much for all of your support and letters! I love you all so much!
