Week 2: Futbol, friends, firsts

¡Hola!

Wow. This week was exciting and new! After writing my email last week, we had p-day, so we got to go out to the streets and go shopping and stuff. We walked down to Liders, which is the foreign version of Walmart. It was a Liders express, so basically a neighborhood walmart. I was really needing some mints because we are not allowed to chew gum, but I couldn´t find any....oh well. I was also looking for some hard candies, but instead I accidently got some weird caramel ones.....Anyway, then we went to a mall, but it was super sketch. There were like 15 hair salons, and like 3 tailor shops, and then a bunch of closed stores so....ratchet.

I finally have time to tell you about the classes. Here is my schedule for the typical day. Wake up at 6:30. Get ready for the day, and breakfast from 7:30-8. Then we have daily planning with our companion for 30 min, and personal study for an hour. Then we have class. Some classes we talk about how to teach the lessons in Preach my Gospel, and in some we learn Spanish. We have one teacher in the morning, and one in the evening. I meant to tell you all about them this week, but I don't have time....

I wanted to make sure that I told you about my email subject hahaha. It is funny because I wrote this email subject down earlier, so I wouldn't forget it. Then I got mom´s email and she was talking about how Lindsay sent an email with all her firsts. So crazy how the spirit works. For exercise time, we have been playing a lot of soccer, and a lot of handball. I wasn't really excited about playing soccer, but I have started enjoying it more. This week, I made my first header!!!! hahaha, it wasnt really on purpose, and I didnt aim it at all, but I think it still counts.

This week we talked to people outside! (gasp). Right? Super scary. The first couple times we just went insided the temple grounds and talked to the people there. That was nice because they were mostly members, and knew about missionaries and how bad at spanish we were, and they were willing to talk to us. Then the scariest thing happened. Our teacher told us that we were going to go contacting outside!!! Like with people who didnt know about the church. I was scared because I don´t know any spanish, and I cant understand spanish (especially chilean spanish). The first time we went out was kind of discouraging. My companion and I talked to a couple people, but they werent really interested. Then we started talking to this grandpa guy, and he was really friendly. He kept saying he was catholic, but he was interested in learning more. But I think he just wanted to talk about the catholic church. We asked him if he wanted a book of mormon, and he said yes, but then when we gave it to him, he gave it back. Then we gave him a pamplet and he kept it. Then he just kept talking to us, and we were trying to leave so we could find someone who actually needed our message, but we didnt know how to say we need to leave in spanish. hahaha gringas... We felt pretty good about that, but then we got back together with our district and some of the companions had handed out like 3 BoMs. dang it. The next time we went contacting was better. We started talking with this guy that was taking a break from work. He was protestant I think.... But we were just talking to him and asking him questions and telling him about the church, and he actually took a Book of Mormon! It felt awesome! I hope that he will read it and come to church and stuff, but I dont know hahaha.... We also gave a pamphlet to a college aged girl, and she seemed a little interested too.
Also, a new thing is that we dont call people investigators anymore. We call them friends of the church.

Entonces (so), my first header in futbol, first book of Mormon placed, and first friend of the chruch (kinda hahaha)

Love you all so much!! I feel like I could write for 4 more hours everyday. dang it. Sorry I didnt get to reply to anyones email this week.

Hermana Christensen

ps. President Carmack said not to send any packages to the MTC. They usually take 6 weeks, and they wont forward them. But if you send it to my mission home adress, they will keep them there for me.

p.p.s. Pictures. I hope they all work... I dont have time to explain a lot, but basically: My companion and me (the girl with the yellow shirt), Us and our roommates, and then our district.
