Week 1: Sleep, eat, class, repeat
¡Hola mi familia!
I have officially been in the MTC for 7 days. It feels like I have been at this MTC for a month!! Time flies so slow when all we do is sleep, eat and go to class. I have been trying to keep a pretty good journal so I can tell you everything, but I dont think I will ever have time to!
On the airplane from Dallas to Chile, there were probably 20 missionaries. Most/all of the missionaries came from Utah, Wyoming, or Arizona. And a lot of them got their mission calls back in June also, so it was nice to hear that I was not alone. When we got to the airport, I got my suitcase back, and one of the wheels was broken! I was super sad and I tried to find where to replace it before we left the airport, but no one spoke english. I don't know if they just don't replace broken suitcases in Chile, or what. but sorry dad. I really roughly spoke with one of the people taking us to the MTC, but he said I would just have to buy a new one, and that they cost roughly $60. So...yeah. Of course it had to happen to me. Perfect. Next week I will send you a picture of the truck that they put all of the suitcases on. For some reason this particular computer doesn't have an SD card slot.
When we got to the MTC, we got our badges. It was fun to see Sister and President Carmack because they know Grandma and Grandpa. It is really cool because the MTC is on the temple grounds. We stay in a building owned by the temple, and then we go to classes in the MTC. There is also an institute, cafeteria, and a chapel. I have been eating lots of fruits and vegetables at the cafeteria, but I am definitely suffering from the fruit! hahaha. It is really nice because we don't have to worry about not eating and foods, or the water here in Chile. I think that goes for the whole country. At the cafeteria they give us soooo much food! Every meal there is rice or potatos, or pasta, and then some type of meat and sauce. I think the workers that serve us ingnore us when we say un poco. hahaha.
On the first day, we also got our companions! My companion's name is Hermana Stewart. She is from Wyoming, like 2 hours from the east(?) yellowstone entrance. She is the one in the picture behind me in the yellow shirt. She is super nice, and we are pretty similar, except she is a little more outgoing and sporty. She is a convert from when she was 13, so it is always cool to hear her experiences. She is going to the Santiago West mission, so we will never be companions, but hopefully we will see each other after the mission. We have a room with 2 other Sisters. They are both from Utah. One cool thing is that one of our roommates is a twin!! Her sister got called to a different mission in Chile, but they are both here at the MTC together. It makes me miss my sisters!!! and wish I was a twin hahaaha jk.
I am running out of time, but thank you all so much for your emails! I really appreciate all of the quotes and good things that you sent to me. I will tell you about classes next week, because I didnt have time this week.
President Carmack told us that we are the last group of English speaking missionaries to go through this MTC (and there is only one more group of Latino missionaries that will come for our last three weeks. Then they are closing this MTC, and President and Sister Carmack will be coming to the Bogota Colombia MTC.
I love you all sooooo much! I will be on for emailing this time next week, and hopefully I will be able to figure out pictures!!
LOVE YOU TONS AND BUCKETS!!
Hermana Christensen
